Tea: White Cockscomb

Origin: Wuyi Mountain - Wu San Di

Year: 2024

Characteristics: Sweet scent of honeysuckle, pollen, smoked pinewood, sweet fragrance such as a cornfield, woody, mossy and earthy fragrance, sweet taste of pear

Tasting Notes:

Many people may feel strange when they hear the name White Cockscomb. However, in fact, it doesn't taste like chicken soup. It got its name because the tea tree leaves are whiter than ordinary tea leaves and look a bit like a white cockscomb. Overall, its taste is mainly sweet and refreshing.

Initial Stage: I really liked it when I first tasted it. It is sweeter than traditional rock tea. The most direct feeling I got from the first infusion of the tea was the sweet and refreshing taste of honeysuckle and pollen. Then, in the second infusion, it immediately changed. There was a woody aroma similar to that of smoked pinewood, but also a sweet fragrance like that when walking in a cornfield.

Middle Stage: You can still sense the aroma of the cornfield, but at this point there is a woody aroma mixed with the smell of earth and moss.

Final Stage: Although both the aroma and taste have weakened a bit, you don't feel that it only tastes like water. Instead, it is sweet and refreshing. But it's not the sweetness of honeysuckle or the scent of a cornfield like before. On the contrary, it is a kind of fruit sweetness, similar to the sweet and refreshing taste of a pear.
