Tasting Notes

Wuyi rock tea is highly terroir-driven. We often refer to its growing terrain — pits, streams, nests, peaks, rocks, and caves — as the unique landscape creates a distinctive ecological environment for the tea plants.

As an iconic landmark in Wuyi Mountain Scenic Area, Shizi Peak enjoys long hours of sunlight. Rougui (cinnamon tea) is a sun-loving variety; abundant sunshine helps develop rich aromatic compounds, resulting in an especially pronounced spicy cinnamon fragrance in the finished tea.

First Infusion

Rich creamy aroma upfront, with a distinct spicy cinnamon kick that quickly softens into a sweet refreshment.
Bright cinnamon notes dominate, accented by a hint of fresh green. Upon tasting, the spiciness unfolds across the palate, filling the mouth with cinnamon fragrance. As the tea flows from the tongue to the throat, it transitions into a cooling sensation. The warm lid scent is slightly spicy, evolving into a delicate powdery floral aroma.

Middle Infusions

The flavor gradually shifts from bold cinnamon spiciness and woody notes to soft pollen fragrance, with a strong, enduring sweetness. By around the 5th infusion, the tea energy (cha qi) becomes full-bodied, bringing a gentle warmth throughout the body.

Later Infusions

Let the tea steep for 30 seconds; it becomes sweet, smooth and mellow, with prominent woody undertones and a returning cooling sensation in the throat.

Overall, stable woody notes, distinct spiciness, long-lasting powdery sweetness, and floral hints in the aftertaste.
