Tasting Notes:

1. First, a brief overview of Wuyi Rock Tea's production areas: there are three categories in Wuyi Mountain—core areas, semi-core areas, and high mountain areas. As a typical Danxia landform, the core and semi-core areas have richer gravel content, coupled with more superior geographical conditions, which inevitably influence the tea's taste.

2. The core production process of Wuyi Rock Tea is charcoal roasting. This cassia belongs to the very traditional full-fire charcoal roasting (i.e., deep roasting in English), a classic Wuyi Rock Tea that embodies the traditional tea-making style of the older generation in Wuyi Mountain. It is suitable for tea lovers with certain tasting experience or those who enjoy black coffee.

3.The initial sip offers a faint peach aroma, making me mistake it for Da Hong Pao. From the second brew onwards, distinct rich dark chocolate notes emerge, complemented by a subtle creaminess and prominent charcoal-roasted fragrance—this profile persists until the fifth brew. Even with the mild bitterness of dark chocolate, it quickly transitions to a sweet aftertaste. After the sixth brew, the terroir characteristics truly shine through, with earthy and rocky flavors that define "rock rhyme" (Yan Yun). Most rock teas on the market are lightly to moderately roasted, making this traditionally full-fire roasted cassia particularly distinctive. It allows one to instantly grasp the true meaning of "Yan Yun" (carved on the stone walls within Wuyi Mountain Scenic Area).
